They never translated the center and that is what it says _- two hands with a dunce cap- means don't forget to rewind.
Seriously,
That is what the big hands in the middle means... not the end of the world but -- take your hands and turn the wheel to restart the calendar.
You see they also had a primitive sun dial that needed to be moved towards the sun so why not the calendar as well.
